A basic responsibility of local government is to ensure public safety while building and maintaining a city's infrastructure. But if Detroit is to ever attract the types of businesses and residents that we want as our neighbors, we must project a professional image in both our appearance and government function. This image begins at the top with elected officials who understand and respect the law, who are articulate and well informed as they present themselves and the city of Detroit. These government officials are conscientious and professional in "small" things such as answering letters and returning phone calls.
